 Then we made it around the memorial to the Harvey st. entrance, where we were greeted with this:

Over the 16 years or so, many people have left little offerings along this fence, I've only shown the one side of it, but you can see the scale of the one side here.

     From toys and beads, to stickers and wreaths, poems to t-shirts there's a wide swath of trinkets left here to honor the dead. What I found interesting is, considering that this is a fore shadowing of the things to come on 9/11/2001, I expected that I would see somethings that involved the seeking of truth, that would plant a seed of reality, but I didn't, I could have missed it, but I assure you I looked.

It hit me then like a ton of bricks, like the spirit of my Grandmother, who helped start me on this path, flipped a light switch on inside my brain. The work that I do... that many of the people I know and respect put out there, is how we honor the lives these people were not allowed to live. That paragraph painted on the wall said it all, 

 " We search for the truth.

        We seek justice.

         The courts require it.

        The victims cry for it.

         And God demands it!"

     Yet, for me, it's missing something, "We shall expose the evildoer's" That's what we do, all in our own way, in our own fashion, with our own particular talents, connections and abilities.

        I didn't really feel as though I "needed" to leave a trinket there for these people who fell victim to government's penchant for death, lies and subterfuge. Because my hunt for the reality that gets purposely hidden from us all is my... is all of our way of showing that we will never forget what happened at 5th and Robinson at 9:02 am on Apr. 19th 1995.

           But there begged the question, why did I feel so strongly the presence of my Grandmother this day? What made this somber moment any more or less relevant between us, even through the afterlife? I might never know, but instead of leaving a trinket for the victims... I did something else.

      You see it occurred to me that I had on my keychain a ring from my Grandmothers house, something I'd carried with me since she'd passed, nothing super special, nothing with any esoteric meaning, just a reminder of how important she'd been in my life.  It came to me that I had many things that remind me of her, but I never really got to thank her for giving me the gift of skepticism. The knowledge that only a certain class of sociopath seeks power at all costs. So I took that little reminder, a ring, clasped it on a key ring and placed it along the fence line at the far end. There it shall remain, my way of letting my Grandmother know that I will always Search for the Truth, I will always seek to see justice served, regardless of whether or not the courts require it, because the victims still cry out for it, even in death and because God demands it of us that we expose these evildoer's where ever and whenever we find them.
